WEEKLY THOUGHTS

  1.            This painting by James Tissot (c. 1886-1894) is called “The Calling of Saint Peter and Saint Andrew.  Meditate on it. Imagine yourself similar to one of the fishermen, but deep in your own activity. Write down a dialogue between you and Jesus, as he comes across the work you are doing. How do you respond to this calling? What is the timing?

2.      We see Jesus healing three times in three very different scenarios. What does this show you about Jesus? What does this show you about healing?

3.      Verse 35 shows Jesus rising before dawn to pray. What rhythms of prayer currently sustain you?

 

ACT ON IT-

 

If you don’t have a rhythm of prayer happening in your life, create one. Find a space that can be your prayer corner or chair. Have it be a place with no distractions. If you need, set up a specific time of day that you put into your calendar. It doesn’t matter the length or how often, just that it is regular. Add something simple to the area for your prayer times, like a candle or a beautiful mug or a soft pillow or blanket. If you want, take a picture to share with the group.
