September 16: BEGIN

September 16

Begin

THEME SCRIPTURE

Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us. We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith. Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God’s throne.

Hebrews 12:1-2

WEEKLY THOUGHTS

1.       If you haven’t written the Hebrews verse in your book, write it down and underneath it write how you would define sin, examples in your life (if applicable), and how those things may or may not be keeping you from focusing your eyes on Jesus.

2.      Each of the four gospels begins their book with a sort of beginning. This shows us that a beginning can actually start in several places—there is not just one beginning. Look at your life right now. Is there a beginning that you can embrace? How might it change how you view each day? Or is there a beginning you’ve recently or not so recently started—how has it changed your view on your life? (The columns from left to right (how is the author qualified/ who the author was writing to/how the author began their Gospel)

3.      How would you explain the Good News to someone?
