The Latest New Tradition for Thanksgiving

The Latest New Tradition for Thanksgiving

This year for Thanksgiving the Creative Farm Girl tried something new. We started a new tradition. Yes, we've been celebrating Thanksgiving for more than 50 years--but it is NEVER too late to start something new, much less a new tradition.

I created a Thanksgiving Junk Journal. Each person was asked to participate and at least sign their name, but they were also encouraged to write something or draw a picture.

I put stickers out for those who didn't want to draw, and I gave writing prompts for those who did not know what to write.

Everyone really enjoyed it--even those people who don't enjoy anything.

I did not start this tradition for something to do while the turkey was roasting or the chana masala was simmering (another newish tradition at the house). It came about because after so many thanksgivings, the years have blended together and I wanted a way to remember who was there and what we ate.

If there is something you've always been wanting to start, please do. Anything that happens in life always begins with a starting point. (That starting point may look like a period, which is why some of us have a hard time moving forward, I think.)

Let's do this.
