The Great Divide That Doesn't Belong

Sometimes I feel the world want to divide people into two camps--and no, it's not the many options running through your head right now.

It's the Creatives and the Not-Creatives. (Ah, are you one of those who say, "I'm not creative"?)

However, we are ALL born with creativity. Look at any child under 4, and you will understand. Some of us have practiced it more than others.  Or been nurtured by encouraging parents or teachers. Others of us don't see the very creative things we do as actually creative--such as figuring out a way to teach math to someone who just doesn't get it. Now, that is creativity at work!

"Creative" comes from "create," which is "to bring into being" or making something out of nothing. So yes, we may not all create art or stories or music, but there are so many ways to create--and they are all right and beautiful.

As you go about your day, think about what you are creating. When you walk into your office or the grocery store, you could be creating an atmosphere that wasn't there before by smiling at those around you.

You could carry peace into a business as you invite the harried parent with five kids to go ahead of you in line. Exploring the concept of creativity is a lifelong journey for me--I love looking at what it is and how our world and our lives can be so much richer when all of us put it into practice. But first it begins with realizing we are ALL on Team Creative.

No more hiding behind what you think you're not--let's do this.
